The General Manager, John Idumange
The industrial dispute at Radio Bayelsa, christened Glory FM took a twist on Thursday when the General Manager flogged four staffers on duty. The Radio Bayelsa Chapel of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) and Radio Television and Theatre Arts Workers Unions (RATTAWU) consequently shut the radio station. Some reports had said the staffers were whipped by suspected thugs which was later found to be untrue.
Two men, Patrick Koyi and Chituru Ferdinand, have been arrested for allegedly kidnaping a lecturer, Emmanuel Chinasa Obi, working with the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) in September 2016. The suspects also beat the victim to death after collecting N1.1 ransom.
A man who is tired of living after many bouts of frustration in life has jumped from an 11-storey building apparently in a bid to kill himself. But, shockingly, he survived the fall to the consternation of all. The incident happened at an incomplete high-rise building at the junction of Katondo Street and Freedom Way in Lusaka, Zambia. The 5-year-old girl, Aliyah Masaku, who was attacked by three dogs in the Ikorodu area of Lagos some days back, has died. Little Aliyah died at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, on Wednesday after she was transferred from the Ikorodu General Hospital, where she was first admitted.

A Kenyan woman, Jackline Mwende, whose husband attacked and chopped off her hands for not having children for him is reportedly pregnant. Miracle Centre Cathedral in Rubaga was on Thursday filled with love as 200 couples, in their different ages, stormed the church to be joined together in Holy Matrimony, in a wedding themed 77 Days of Glory (77 DOG). The 200 brides rode on the back of five decorated flat-bed Mercedes Benz trailers to the venue, with their respective grooms. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has recovered seventeen exotic vehicles in a warehouse of the former Comptroller General of Customs, Abdullahi Dikko Inde located at Nnamdi Azikwe Street, Kaduna. The recovery was sequel to an intelligence the commission received that stolen money and properties suspected to proceeds of crime were being stored in the warehouse. Upon receipt of the intelligence, a team of operatives from the Kano Zonal Office were deployed to carry out the investigation.
Acordig to a report by Punch, the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, has said he is ready to vacate office after the national convention of the party, where new officers will be elected for the former ruling party. He, however, warned governors, elected on the platform of the PDP, not to divide the party. Sheriff was, on Friday, declared the rightful National Chairman of the PDP by the Court of Appeal, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
