Oh No! Trailer Crushes Tricycle Passenger To Death In Lagos

A trailer crushed a Tricycle passenger at Abattoir Road in Agege, Lagos, after the deceased who has been identified as Isa Sanni, fell out of the tricycle and was run over by the approaching truck. PUNCH reports that the incident happened around 2pm on Saturday. The truck driver, Emmanuel George, was almost lynched by a mob before he was rescued by the police. Speaking with the press, an official of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority said, “There were two vehicles involved in the accident – a trailer, with number plate, LSR 615 XB, and a tricycle, with number plate, GGE 393 QC.”

“The trailer was coming from the Abule Egba area and heading towards the Total area, while the tricycle rider, who had three passengers, rode out from an access road onto the highway.”  “The rider of the tricycle ran into the path of the trailer, which hit it. The victim fell onto the road in the process and as he struggled to get out, the trailer’s tyres climbed his head.” “The trailer driver was unaware of the accident until he heard the noise that somebody had been killed,” he said, adding, that a mob dragged the driver out and the vehicle was vandalised.

“There were people everywhere and it took the intervention of the police to prevent a total breakdown of law and order. The deceased’s family members later showed up,” he added.

Confirming the incident to PUNCH, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, also said Sanni’s corpse has been deposited in a morgue. “We discovered that the driver of the truck, who works with a firm, CY Inc Ltd, Ijanikin, hit the tricycle in the Nitel area on the Abattoir Road,” she said. “Sanni, who is aged 30 years, died on the spot and we have taken his corpse to the morgue of a general hospital in the state for autopsy.”
