Ugandan goalkeeper, Abel Dhaira has tragically died aged 28. Dhaira, who played for Icelandic Premier League side IBV Vestmannaeyjar, passed away on Sunday after losing his battle with cancer. A statement by the Ugandan FA (Fufa) read: "Dhaira was a magnificent goalkeeper with so many tricks and always put on a smile irrespective of the results for his team. "We are saddened by the death of Dhaira and football will miss a keeper many people loved seeing saving penalties. "These are trying moments for the family of Abel Dhaira and football. When a loved one is gone, words of comfort mean a lot."
Dhaira was capped 13 times by Uganda. A minute's silence will be held before Uganda's match against Burkina Faso on Tuesday.
May his soul rest in peace.
