Two armed robbers who were escaping after robbing motorists and members of the Mountain of Fire and Miracle Ministry, were on Thursday, knocked down by a truck along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. It was reported that after having successfully robbed their victims, the bandits took to their heels on sighting police operatives attached to Ibafo Division who were on patrol on the expressway. A witness said the truck hit two of the men, who sustained major injuries, while the third gang member narrowly escaped the crash. Police later arrested the injured thieves and recovered some of the stolen items.
Muyiwa Adejobi, the Ogun State Police Command Public Relations Officer, when contacted, confirmed the incident and said the robbery victims have identified the thieves, adding that the recovered items have also been returned to the owners.
He gave identities of the suspects as Sola Bilaminu and Ibrahim Sandi. "The Commissioner of Police Ogun State Abdulmajid Ali has commended the police operatives for their commitment and dedication to duty, and directed that the suspects be transferred to the Special Anti Robbery Squad in Magbon Abeokuta for thorough investigation," he said.
