A man who filmed himself attacking a woman as she begged him not to rape her has been jailed. Matthew Fellows, 27, tried to use the footage of the attack to prove his innocence, but it failed to convince police that she had consented. After she said she didn’t want to have sex with him, Fellows told her: ‘Yes you do, you’re all slags’. Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court heard that the pair met at the town’s Factory nightclub where Fellows had taken cocaine. They went back to his friend’s house where the attack happened. Fellows has now been jailed for nine years after pleading guilty to two counts of rape.
Judge Paul Glenn told the 27 year-old: ‘It is plain having seen the transcript that she was saying, “I have not done anything to hurt you”, and she repeatedly asks you why you are doing what you are doing. It is pitiful. ‘The victim was falling over drunk and you knew that.’
The woman – who was aged 26 at the time of the attacks in September 2012 – reported the rapes after the defendant fell asleep. Prosecutor Roger Brown said: ‘He tried to kiss her. He tried to force himself on her. He put his whole body weight on top of her. ‘He pulled down her trousers and asked her to perform a sex act on him. She said, ‘No’, and she was not like that. He said, ‘Yes you are, you are all slags, just do it’. ‘She tried to push him off. He told her over and over that she must do as she has been told. She was scared and went along with what he was saying.’
Mr Brown said the woman managed to get away from Fellows and she tried to run upstairs to raise the alarm. But he ran after her, took hold of her legs and dragged her back into the lounge. He then recorded her performing a sex act on him.
Mr Brown said: ‘He asked if she liked it. She said, ‘Yes’. She only said that because she was scared. As soon as she thought he had gone to sleep she left.’ The victim, was hysterical when she walked into a nearby Co-op store begging for help. Fellows was arrested and told police he made a video on his phone and ‘they would see she consented’.
Fellows, of Berryhill, Stoke-on-Trent, was also ordered to sign the sex offenders’ register indefinitely.
