A man who suffered great discomfort has some relief now after surgeons removed a massive stomach tumour which he carried around for 12 years because he allowed it to grow for so long. It took six hours by experts from three clinical departments to ensure the stomach tumour was removed. Zhang Cheng, 33, from China, first became aware of this abdominal benign tumour in 2004 but could not do much about it due to the high amount needed to remove the stomach tumour. It was until it started to threaten his life that Cheng started borrowing large sums if money to foot the bills. It’s understood that at its heaviest, the benign growth weighed a whopping 15 kilogrammes.
Doctor Dai Ruiwu, the lead surgeon at the Military General Hospital in Chengdu, capital of China’s south-western Sichuan Province, disclosed that the fleshy mass was putting too much pressure on Zhang’s internal organs and gastrointestinal tract. However, Doctor Dai said Zhang admitted that Zhang was not out of the woods yet. He said: Due to the tumour’s position the surgery was extremely risky. There was a high chance of heavy bleeding.
The patient is now being kept in the intensive care unit for further observation. This is how Zhang suffered and people looked at him as a pregnant man.
