A 27-year-old suspected Los Angeles gang member has been arrested for allegedly raping a woman within 12 hours of being released from jail. Edgar Alexander Lobos attacked and raped his victim at gunpoint in a public restroom near a playground in Lincoln Heights, at around midday on Monday, police say. Lobos, who has a lengthy criminal record which includes domestic violence and drugs offences, had only been released from Los Angeles County jail - following a narcotics-related parole violation - at just after midnight on Sunday evening, Daily Mail reports.
When he was arrested at 6.30am on Tuesday morning, police found he was carrying a loaded handgun. Lobos is charged with rape, forcible sodomy and several other charges. If convicted, he will spend the rest of his life behind bars.
The 31-year-old woman called 911 after the incident and was taken to a hospital where she was treated for her injuries.
