A notorious kidnapper who had been terrorizing a community in Warri, has been battered to death by an angry mob that decided to take laws into their hands - since attempts by them to get the police to arrest and persecute him, proved futile. Continue to read how eyewitness Harrison Eyovwire, reports it + more pics.
"There is jubilation in Oghara community in Delta State following the death of a suspected notorious kidnapper in the area. The suspect, identified as Onos Okeribo (what a name. It means planter of pepper), was lynched by a mob yesterday following his arrest months after he was declared wanted by the police. He is alleged to be the ringleader of a daredevil criminal gang blamed for years of audacious kidnappings and armed robberies in the community. Eyewitnesses said the "commando" was arrested in Benin City, in neighbouring Edo State, and taken to Oghara Town where the mob "sent him to meet his master, lucifer, in hell".
"A discerning mind can immediately see some gaps in this gist. For example, who arrested him? Where in Oghara was he taken? Why did the police allow residents to take the laws into their hands? Has any arrest been made of those responsible for the lynching? Well, I'm trying to get answers to those questions. Meanwhile, residents of the community are pomping, abi na popping champaign (oyibo no easy) on top the matter. They don't care whether the killing was lawful or not. What counts right now is the peace that they believe Onos' death would bring to their community. And by the way, I don upload the fotos yet facebook still dey ask me what's on your mind. Una no serious."
