Ekiti State Local Govt. Worker Suddenly Runs Mad, Commits Suicide After Attacking 3 People With A Machete

There was pandemonium in in Ode-Ekiti, headquarters of Gbonyin Local Government Area of Ekiti State yesterday after a Local Government worker simply  identified as Aderiye, allegedly committed suicide after attacking three persons with a machete. It was gathered that the man who worked as a security guard at the private residence of the council Chairman, Mrs Sade Akinrinmola had reported to work on Tuesday after the Monday public holiday hale and hearty without any sign of mental illness, only to suddenly run amok. 

According to reports, he was said to have worked till 4pm and went home. Shortly after getting home, it was gathered that he started behaving strangely around 7pm and allegedly went into the streets with a machete and started chasing people indiscriminately as well as brandishing the weapon. He caught up with his victims and inflicted deep cuts on their stomachs, heads and backs.

After attacking the victims, the people were said to have launched a manhunt for him and after combing the streets, they were unable to see him. They headed to the man’s residence where his lifeless body was found hanging on the ceiling.

Confirming the story, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Alberto Adeyemi,  said the remains of the attacker had been deposited in the morgue.
