Man Exhumes Corpse, Says Family Did Not Pay Him For Being A Pallbearer During The Funeral

A young man suspected to be mentally challenged whose name was given as Attah a.k.a Abodam from Akyem Old Tafo in the East Akim Municipality of the Eastern Region of Ghana has left all his neighbors in a state of shock as he exhumed a dead body from the cemetery claiming the deceased family owes him GH¢20 for his service during the burial.

Kwame Korankye Nkansah, the deceased was buried at the Akyem Old Tafo cemetery 2 weeks ago but Abodam who is claiming he worked as pallbearer but never received his payment after the service was exhuming the body with the intention to force the family to pay the debt.
But before his operation could reach a successful point, the youth of the area swooped on him and introduced him to severe beatings and questioned him on why he had dug part of the concrete in the processes of exhuming the dead body.
Abodam responded to their question and revealed that the family of the deceased owed him and all his efforts in getting the debt paid have landed unsuccessfully resulting in his action.
Not sounding convincing with his unsatisfying excuses, it exasperated the youth to give him another round of beatings and this time around, he disclosed that he had been assigned by some money ritualists (Sakawa) to bring a human part for some rituals.
Inspection on the dug grave revealed that he split the coffin apart after digging a portion of the grave exposing the dead body and other materials used to bury him.
They further handed him over to the police for a thorough investigation but most residents around the area suggested that the suspect could be mentally defective and may have influenced his conduct.
However, when the deceased family was contacted about the shocking case, they denied ever assigning the suspect - indicating he never played any role in the funeral and they barely even know him.
According to them, it is never true that they owe him any amount and challenged him to mention the person who contracted him as a pallbearer during the burial service.
