Desperate Mother Pays N500,000 To Break Her Son Out Of Zamfara Prison

One of the four suspected jail breakers arrested by the Zamfara State police command has said that the mother of a murder suspect paid them N500,000 to get her son out. Briefing newsmen in Gusau, the state police commissioner, Kenneth Ebrimson, said the suspects broke into the Gusau Remand Home to free one Ibrahim Ajala on the instruction of his mother.
One of the arrested jail breakers, Isya Aliyu, who confessed to have committed the crime, told Daily Trust that they were hired by the mother of Ibrahim Ajala who was detained by the police on murder charges to free her son with the promise that she would pay them N500,000 if they succeeded.
Aliyu further explained that they used a ladder to scale over the fence of the Gusau Remand Home and succeeded in freeing him alongside 18 other inmates but they were arrested by the police.
“Police trailed and arrested us some days later. I was sleeping in my room when armed police men bulldozed their way into the house and picked me up. However, I can’t precisely tell the whereabouts of the person we set free and his mother. I’m regretting my action,” he said.
Ebrimson said investigation is ongoing at the state Criminal Investigation Department and appropriate measures are being put in place to arrest the fleeing suspects, he added.
Earlier, seven suspected kidnappers and cattle rustlers including a teenager identified as Rabe Bello who allegedly rustled about 300 cows and 150 sheep were apprehended with rifles and cash and the stolen animals recovered from them.
